ColorBar – haul and review

Over the next week I will be doing a few posts of things I bought in India. Today’s post is a review and haul post of certain items I purchased from ColorBar Cosmetics in India. I would say colour bar is a drug store brand I consider it similar to NYX, since they also have their own stand alone stores. I tried to get a variety of things so that I can get a good feel for the quality of products they have to offer.

Blush

This is my favourite product among the all things I tried from colorbar. The blush is pigmented and smooth. It goes on easily and gives a beautiful natural finish. I really like how buttery the blush feels. I have it in the shade … which is . It retails for Rs 650.

Eye shadow palette

The eyeshadow palette has a good selection of bright vibrant colours which can be used to create a fun look. They are easy to blend and the product is easy to pick up in the brush. Unfortunately I am not in love with these shadows. They have a lot of fallout and are not as pigmented as some of the other shadows I own. There are a total of four quads, the one I purchased is called Expert Sight. They retails for Rs750 which is relatively inexpensive, but I think there are some better options in the Indian market, so I wouldn’t recommend this palette to anyone. Here are the swatches of the four colours which out any primer.

Lip Creme

This formula is very opaque gives a bright bold colour. i do not need to build it up and it looks strong with just one swipe. It is comfortable to wear doesn’t dry my lips out.

It claims to be matte with a staying power of unto 8Hrs. However I doesn’t live upto it’s claim. The colour is not matte at all. When it is applied to the lips it is very glossy and it does not dry down to a matte finish even after waiting for 30mins. Infant it is quite messy and transfers very easily. Which was a huge mess the first time I wore this product. So the next time I dabbed off the excess with a tissue and mattified it by dabbing some translucent powder (the picture shows what it look like after removing the excess). This helps it to reduce the amount of transfer but it still will come off when you eat.

Overall I like the product but not as a matte liquid lipstick, but more for the bright vibrant colours.

I own the Deep Matte lip Creme in the shade Deep Lily. It retails for Rs675.

Nail Polish

The nail polish formula is very smooth. It goes on smoothly and it has a good staying power. My nail polishes never last for more than a day or two without chipping and this one lasted close to a week. I own it in the shade … It retails for Rs110. I think it is a steal for the price. I am definitely going to stock up on more shades of the nail polish.

BB Creme

The BB cream comes in 4 shades which are all tailored for the Indian skin tone. It is possible to find a decent colour match in this range. It is a lot better than some of the other drugstore BB creams in the Indian Market which sometimes have only a single colour to pick from. The product also has an SPF 20. I think that is a huge plus. It is essential to wear a good SPF and having it in your makeup as a good way to add it to your routine.

Coverage – It provides light coverage which is somewhat buildable.

Longevity – It lasted a good while on my dry skin. It did not highlight my dry patches and was easy to apply. I didn’t make my T-Zone oily either for the most part. I would recommend this for all skin types, but people with oily skin should set it with powder.

Application: I prefer applying it with a damn makeup sponge as it made the application easier. But fingers work as well.

The product retails for Rs550 and I have it in the shade 001 White Light.

Overall it is one of the good drugstore BB Creams available in India. (I like it more than Garnier and Ponds)

Hope you guys found this post useful.
